The aim of this article is to carry out an unprecedented approach: the study of funerary art and architecture authored by Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1992), an architect whose work has been incessantly studied, but still not observed in depth in this light. The architect designed two mausoleums: one example discovered through this research, located in the city of São Paulo, designed and built between 1951 and 1955 for the Robell family; and another in Salvador, for the Odebrecht family, designed in 1958 and built in 1964. To this end, we will analyze her Italian references, the paths and possible dialogues carried out in the architect’s career that enabled the conception of the tomb projects. In addition to contributing to the historiography of Lina Bo Bardi and to the artistic-architectural production on Brazilian soil in the period in question, the documentation and analysis of such examples should broaden the studies on modern art and tomb architecture, focusing on the understanding of the designs, iconographic, symbolic, morphological and historiographical issues associated with the construction of these two final dwellings. The intention is to take the study of the subject out of the marginal, the shadow and the morbid sphere.
