The contribution aims to illustrate the objectives that the Association “Citadel of Alexandria defense Committee” promotes for the reuse and enhancement of the Alexandrian fortress, starting from the knowledge declined in the various critically selected contexts. The Committee strongly believes that the Citadel can be considered a cultural heritage that is already partly usable, but that could widen its range of action through a serious valorisation policy, even in the long term. The contribution therefore focuses attention on the following topics: the Citadel as a “cultural oilfield”, as a Risorgimento Museum, as a Military Museums “Container”, as an archive of military history and as a tourist pole; the Citadel in the circuit of the Entrenched Field (municipal route), of the Castles and Fortresses (inter-provincial and regional route) and of the fortification park-museum (Italo-French route); to conclude the theme of the partners, who are defined through different rules of engagement, new public and private partners with new models of speculation.
