This research project sheds new light on multicriteria decision-making systems, through the proposal of a new open access multicriteria evaluation based on a decision-making method. Ano Syros is a protected medieval traditional settlement in the Greek island of Syros, Cyclades, Greece. The settlement was founded in 1200 by the Venetians on a hill leading to the top of Syros where the Catholic Cathedral of Saint George is situated. The settlement has been built amphitheatrically to protect it from the enemies (Pirates), with houses built one on top of the other, forming a defensive fortress, arches and arcades, stone walls, narrow streets, wooden balconies. It is also the birthplace of Markos Vamvakaris, who was a famous composer, musician and singer of rebetiko. Due to the catholic doctrine, it is interesting to note that the religious traditions of Ano Syros played a significant role in the way the settlement is organized. Ano Syros lists nine temples - seven of them being of catholic doctrine and two of them orthodox, all of which are dispersed throughout the village. These temples have been the basic structural elements of the settlement since around them nine respective neighborhood and all the social life and actions (litanies, social behavior, families) have been developed. Τhe main body of the research project is organized into two sections: recording and evaluation. This describes a new approach towards the development of an innovative solution to the recording and evaluation of the cultural assets of a place by setting the appropriate evaluation criteria related to cultural significance. This step initially records and—in the process—evaluates, using quantitative and qualitative criteria, the specific cultural assets of Ano Syros with a step-by-step guide to the data analysis process, ensuring that the system has elements that are easy to access, and understand.
