The Italian artists Nazareno Orlandi (1861-1952) and Francisco Parisi (1857-1948) made large-scale murals in decorative art projects that took place in Buenos Aires. These painters arrived in the capital of Argentina between january and march 1889 and their insertion was framed by the migratory experiences and the social ties maintained with their home environment. From the study of a set of texts included in the magazine Natura ed Art (1901), in volumes of Gli Italiani nella Repubblica Argentina (1906), in the book Taccuini (1920/1961) and in L´Opera di Francesco Paolo Parisi nella Repubblica Argentina dal 1898 al 1930 (1930) it is possible to delineate different aspects of the trajectories of these artists, described by a group of Italian intellectuals active in the Buenos Aires cultural circuit. Taking into account the conditions in the context of the reception of the works of Parisi and Orlandi, it is intended to contrast the different nuances outlined in the biographical and critical stories that, on these artists, circulated between Argentina and Buenos Aires in the first decades of the 20th century.
