This paper aims to explore the role of phraseology in the teaching of Italian as a foreign language (LS), with particular reference to an audience of German–speaking learners. Thanks for the theoretical and methodological reflection, the paper proposes a phraseological pathway aimed at fostering the acquisition of intercultural communicative competence, even at the initial levels of learning. The approach employed privileges constructivism, game–based learning and the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in order to make teaching more effective and engaging.
