A causa del conflitto del 2024 e in particolar modo dell’invasione russa del 2022, la Transnistria – uno stato non riconosciuto collocato lungo il confine meridionale dell’Ucraina – rimane una preoccupazione per Kyiv, sebbene questa non abbia spesso notato il problema, né l’abbia affrontato seriamente o mostrato segni di ovvia stanchezza dal “Transnistrian zugzwang”. Nel frattempo, l’Ucraina ha preso parte all’accordo sul conflitto del fiume Dnestr sin dai primi giorni, ponendosi come stato garante insieme alla Russia, e la sicurezza della regione è sempre stata prerequisito per la sicurezza e l’integrità del territorio ucraino – l’unico aspetto della politica ucraina verso la Repubblica moldava della Transnistria (RMT) rimasto immutato durante tutta la fase di negoziazione. L’articolo considererà, dunque, i fattori che hanno influito e plasmato la politica dell’Ucraina nei confronti della Transnistria durante l’intero processo di esistenza di questo stato non riconosciuto nel suo periodo pre-conflitto. Due to the conflict of 2014 and especially, the Russia’s invasion in 2022, Transnistria – an unrecognized state located along the southern border of Ukraine – remains a concern for Kyiv, although a latter has not sometimes noticed the problem, or not taken it seriously or showed obvious fatigue from “Transnistrian zugzwang”. Meanwhile, Ukraine participated in the settlement of the Dniester-river conflict from the first days acting as a state guarantor together with Russia, and the security of the region has always been a prerequisite for the security and integrity of the Ukrainian territory – the only point of Ukrainian policy towards the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (the PMR), which remained unchanged throughout the whole mediation process. This article will consider the factors affecting and shaping the political fluctuations of Ukraine regarding the Transnistrian issue throughout the entire period of existence of this unrecognized state in its pre-conflict period.
