The contribution aims to highlight the role of “vision” as an essential parameter in the identity of cultural heritage, in their process of knowledge and conservation, as well as that of “restoration” dedicated to the enhancement of the image that springs from pre-existence. Architecture, in fact, is not only substantiated by material but, through it, expresses a strong formal will and a defined, precise and recognizable design idea. The theoretical foundations enunciated about the role of vision are applied to the real case of the Citadel of Alessandria.
