The essay focuses on the legal relationship between the child and the intentional parent in cases of gestational surrogacy and heterologous fertilization. After a historical introduction to the problem and examination of the relevant Italian legislation and case-law, the author verifies the compatibility of the solutions found with the principle of the best interests of the child and highlighting the critical issues and the future solutions.
